  muốn làm học trò của Phu tử với mục đích gì?”</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>Bị
  hỏi bất ngờ, người ấy không trả lời mà hỏi lại:</p>

  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>“Thày
  hãy cho tôi hỏi trước. Thày học Phu tử để làm gì?”</p>

  Hạ thấy thế thì hơi cáu, song vẫn nhã nhặn trả lời:</p>

  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>“Bình
  sinh ta học Phu tử chỉ cốt để làm người.”</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>Người
  ấy hỏi tiếp:</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>“Thế
  đã làm người được chưa?”</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>Tử
  Hạ vẫn cố gắng nhã nhặn:</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>“Tất
  nhiên là chưa. Vậy cho nên vẫn phải học tiếp.”</p>

  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>Người
  ấy bảo:</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>“Thì
  ra thiên hạ đều cá mè một lứa cả. Anh nào cũng chỉ được cái xoen xoét cái lỗ
  mồm. Có biết đâu rằng làm người mà dở dang thì chi bằng làm vật quách cho
  rồi. Còn tôi muốn làm học trò cua Phu tử chỉ cốt được ăn thịt.”</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>Tử
  Hạ trợn mắt ngạc nhiên bởi chưa nghe ai trả lời như thế bao giờ. Bèn hỏi
  tiếp:</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>“Tại
  sao anh lại nghĩ rằng làm học trò của Phu tử thì được ăn thịt?”</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>Người
  ấy trả lời:</p>

  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;line-height:normal'><span style='mso-bidi-font-size:

  1'>            </span>“Tôi nghe nói, Phu tử thịt thái không vuông, không ăn.
  Mà con heo, con gà, con dê, con bò... có con nào vuông đâu! Thế thì dứt khóat
  sẽ có nhiều chỗ phải bỏ đi. Tôi chỉ xin được chén những chỗ bỏ đi ấy mà
  thôi.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>Tử
  Hạ nghe nói cảm thấy hơi có lí nhưng cũng chẳng biết quyết định ra sao, đành
  phải vào thưa lại nguyên văn với Khổng tử. Khổng tử nghe xong ngẩn người ra
  một lát, rồi mừng rỡ bảo Tử Hạ:</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span
  style='mso-spacerun:yes'> </span>“Kẻ ấy chính là thầy ta đó. Ta vốn đã để ý
  dò tìm bấy lâu nay mà chưa tìm thấy. Ngươi mau mau ra mời anh ta vào đây để
  chính ta phải làm lễ bái sư.”</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>Tử
  Hạ vội vàng chạy ra thì người kia đã bỏ đi đâu mất làm cho không những Khổng
  tử mà cả đời sau, cho đến tận bây giờ, ai nghe đến câu chuyện này cũng than
  thở tiếc rẻ mãi. </p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>Về
  sau, cũng nhân chuyện này có ông Mục công người đất kinh còn bình luận một
  câu đại ý:</p>

  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'>”Chỗ bỏ đi hay là phần còn lại.
  Thế gian này trừ thánh nhân ra, chính cái phần còn lại ấy của thiên hạ mới là
  thầy của thánh nhân vậy.”</p>

  Như câu trả lời của Tử Hạ, học trò Đức Khổng tử, theo học thầy là cốt để làm
  một con người. Làm người thật dễ nhưng cũng thật khó, có lẽ chưa ai dám vỗ
  ngực tự cho là mình đã làm xong bổn phận một con người!</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>Bổn
  phận ấy đối với trời, với đất, với người, với cha mẹ, anh em, họ mạc, xóm
  giềng. Bởi vậy, học làm một con người, học từ thuở mới lẫm chẫm biết đi cho
  đến khi nằm yên trong huyệt, học hoài học hủy mà vẫn chẳng xong. Đủ biết cái
  đạo làm người thật khó!</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>-
  Người lạ mặt nói chuyện với Tử Hạ, theo ý ông ta, làm người mà dở dang, tức
  chưa thành người thì chẳng thà làm vật. Bởi sao? Vật không có cái danh dự của
  vật mà người thì có cái danh dự của người. Mang tiếng làm một con người mà
  không có danh dự thì chẳng thà làm một con vật hay vật dụng gì đó mà lại hay
  hơn! Thời nay, có thiếu gì những kẻ đeo cái mặt người, hai tay hai chân dềnh
  dàng như người, mặc quần áo người, nói tiếng người, đi đứng như người, nhưng
  nếu xét kĩ thì chúng chẳng phải là người!</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>-
  Người lạ mặt xin được thụ giáo Đức Khổng tử chỉ cốt ý được ăn những miếng
  thịt đầu thừa đuôi thẹo Đức Khổng vứt ra bởi Đức Khổng không ăn những miếng
  thịt thái không vuông. Người này có óc thực tế, dù đầu thừa đuôi thẹo cũng
  vẫn là thịt, ở địa ví ông ta, được hưởng như thế là mãn nguyện rồi. Lại chẳng
  hơn nhiều kẻ vô tài bất đức nhưng tham vọng cao như núi, chẳng biết đâu là
  vừa với sức mình. Đến khi thất bại, nhìn lại, thì sự đã rồi!</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>-
  Đức Khổng không ăn những miếng thái không vuông. Thực ra, câu ấy có ý nói,
  Đức Khổng không làm những việc khuất tất, không quang minh chính đại, chứ
  heo, bò, dê, gà, nếu chỉ chọn ăn những miếng vuông thì có lẽ phải vứt đi gần
  hết. Người mà hành động hoàn toàn quang minh chính đại là đã thành một con
  người đúng nghĩa.</p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:6.0pt;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:
  6.0pt;margin-left:.5in;text-align:justify'><span style='mso-tab-count:1'>            </span>-
  Phần còn lại, hay là những tinh hoa học thuật của thiên hạ, đúng là kho tàng
  để làm giầu trí tuệ nếu ta biết sử dụng chúng một cách công bằng, hợp lí và
  đích đáng.</p>
