  Tetsugen. Ông là một tâm hồn thiền ở Nhận Bản, mơ ước in các tập kinh điển
  thiền Sutra cho dân Nhật. Bấy giờ kinh điển thiền mới có bằng tiếng Trung Hoa
  bên Tàu. Ông lặn lội khắp nơi xin tiền. In bằng bảng khắc trên gỗ, công trình
  rất cam go, tổn phí. Sau mười năm dành được tiền, sắp đem in kinh, dòng sông
  Uji ngẫu hứng dâng nước tràn ngập, lụt lội khắp miền. Dân chúng lâm cảnh màn
  trời chiếu đất, mất mùa khốn khổ.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:0in;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:

  Băn khoăn trước số tiền mười năm quyên góp được, in kinh hay cứu người? In kinh
  để truyền bá một triết lý, gây dựng cả một suy tư tôn giáo. Cứu người chỉ là
  giai đoạn nhất thời. Rồi ai mà không chết? In kinh có thể lưu danh tên tuổi.
  Ấy vậy mà Tetsugen không đành lòng đem tiền in kinh. Ông bỏ hết số tiền tích
  góp mười năm trời giúp nạn nhân lụt lội của dòng sông Uji. Thế là công trình
  10 năm với giấc mộng truyền bá Zen cho dân tộc Nhật theo dòng sông nước đục
  chảy vào hư vô.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

  sau, dành dụm được một số tiền. Ai ngờ một nạn dịch lan tràn, bao nhiêu người
  chết. Động lòng trắc ẩn, ông lại đem hết tiền dành in kinh giúp người khốn
  khổ. Thoáng qua đã mười mấy năm. Tuổi đời theo thời gian ngắn lại.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

  là một Ki-Tô hữu. Nói theo từ của Thánh Kinh, ông là một người ngoại đạo
  Samaritan. Suốt đời, có lẽ ông cũng chưa bao giờ nghe nói đến tên Yê-su. Thế
  nhưng, trong tâm tình và cách sống, ông đã thể hiện đúng những điều mà Chúa
  Yê-su muốn dạy con cái người: <b><span style='color:blue'>&quot;Khi cho người
  đói ăn, người khát uống, người rách có áo mặc, người ốm được chăm sóc, người
  tù được viếng thăm, người khách lạ được tiếp rước... khi làm bất cứ việc gì
  cho những người anh chị em bé mọn này là các con đã làm cho chính Thầy
  đó&quot;</span></b> (Mt 25:35-40). Ông không hỏi như người thông luật Pharisêu:
  <b>&quot;Tôi phải làm gì để được sự sống đời đời?&quot;</b> Ông hành động,
  ông <b>&quot;yêu người thân cận như chính mình&quot;</b> (Lc 10: 25-29). Qua
  hành động yêu người đó, ông thật sự mến Chúa, dù chưa biết. Ông không nói,
  không giảng; ông chỉ làm...<o:p></o:p></span></p>

  Tetsugen đã in bộ sách thiền Sutra cả thảy ba lần. Lần đầu bằng nước lũ tàn
  hại, cuốn trôi của dòng sông lụt Uji. Lần hai bằng cơn bệnh dịch giết người
  lan truyền. Và đến lần thứ ba, kinh thiền mới được in bằng mực trên bảng gỗ.
  Bảng gỗ gốc này hiện còn lưu giữ ở thiền viện Okabu, Kyoto. Nhưng ngày nay,
  khi nhắc tới Tetsugen và kinh thiền Sutra, người dân Nhật lại nghĩ ngay tới
  hai bộ sách thiền vô giá in hai lần đầu, mắt người không nhìn thấy nhưng lòng
  người dạt dào sự cảm phục, biết ơn, ghi khắc. Trong hai lần đầu, bộ kinh
  thiền Sutra đã được in bằng dòng máu thánh thiện của con tim. Thời gian nào,
  nắng mưa nào, gió bụi nào, biến cố lịch sử, chánh trị nào... có thể làm mờ
  phai hai bảng in đó trong lòng người dân Nhật?<o:p></o:p></span></p>

  Như Tetsugen đi xin tiền in sách để truyền bá tư tưởng thiền cho dân Nhật,
  người tín hữu chúng ta quyên góp tiền xây dựng nhà thờ để <b>&quot;danh Cha
  cả sáng, nước Cha trị đến&quot;</b>. Là một tín hữu tin theo đạo Chúa, nếu ở
  vào trường hợp Tetsugen, chúng ta sẽ hành động ra sao? Xây nhà thờ, nguyện
  đường để vinh danh Thiên Chúa, Mẹ Maria hay đem tiền quyên góp giúp nạn nhân
  bão lụt miền Bắc, miền Trung, miền Tây... hay giúp những trẻ em mồ côi tật
  nguyền, người nghèo đói phải bán máu mình để nuôi con ở Việt Nam? Giả sử, sau
  hai năm cố gắng không ngừng, Liên Đoàn Công Giáo Việt Nam tại Hoa Kỳ quyên
  góp được hai triệu đồng để xây cất trụ sở.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

  Và một nạn dịch thình lình xảy ra tại Hoa Kỳ giết hại rất nhiều người. Liên
  Đoàn sẽ hành xử như thế nào? Trụ sở hoạt động là điều mơ ước bấy lâu, cần
  phải có để làm nơi nhóm họp, phối trí công việc, hoạt động của Liên Đoàn,
  nhưng không quá cần đến độ không có không được. Bịnh dịch đang giết người
  từng phút từng giây. Người bịnh cần thuốc trị, sự chăm sóc, không thể trì
  hoãn. Và đất nước này, dân tộc này, đã cưu mang người tín hữu chúng ta từ hơn
  29 năm nay... Chúng ta phải làm gì? Xúc tiến việc xây cất trụ sở như đã hoạch
  định vì... đất nước này giàu có, chánh phủ có thừa phương tiện để chăm sóc
  cho người dân? Hay làm như Tetsugen, đem hết tiền quyên góp được giúp cho nạn
  nhân bịnh dịch?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
  <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-top:0in;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:

  Trường hợp quyết định thật khó. Lựa chọn là mất mát, được phần này mất phần
  khác. Tìm ra câu trả lời xứng hợp không phải là chuyện dễ. Đa số chúng ta ước
  gì mình đừng bao giờ gặp <b>&quot;cảnh đoạn trường, éo le&quot;</b> đó để...
  khỏi phải suy tư, quyết định, chọn lựa. Ai không muốn làm sáng danh Chúa? Ai
  không thích để tiếng lại cho đời? Ai không muốn bảo tồn, phát huy văn hóa?
  Bạn đừng vội trả lời. Hãy suy nghĩ thật kỹ, nhưng đừng quên rằng mỗi giây
  phút trôi qua là có bao nhiêu người chết vì đói lạnh, tật bệnh, ốm đau...
  Tetsugen cũng đã suy nghĩ đắn đo trước khi hành động. Nhưng chắc ông đã không
  chần chừ, do dự vì suy nghĩ quá lâu trong hai lần đem hết tiền quyên góp để
  in kinh sách thiền ra giúp người gặp nạn. May mà lần sau cùng, trước khi ông
  in bộ sách thiền Sutra, không có thiên tai, dịch nạn xảy ra. Nếu có, chắc
  chắn Tetsugen cũng sẽ hành động như hai lần trước.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
